AVERAKS/What we build/Apps

App development iPhone, Android and web apps, designed and built here.

Websites are most of what you can see of our work. They are not all of it. We build apps for Australian businesses, native on iPhone and Android or in the browser when that serves you better, designed around what people will actually do with them rather than a list of features.

What an app has to earn.

It opens on the answer

An app people use daily earns that place by showing the one thing they opened it for, before anything else.

It works without signal

Offline use, the camera and notifications are the reasons an app beats a mobile website. If a build needs none of them, we will say so.

It agrees with your other systems

The same bookings, the same customers, the same numbers as the back office. One source of truth, not a second one to reconcile.

Three shapes, one team.

iPhone and AndroidNative apps, in the stores.

For apps people keep on their phone, with notifications, offline use, camera and location. Designed and built here, and we handle the submission and review process.

  • One codebase, both platforms
  • App Store and Play Store submission
  • Push notifications and offline use
  • Updates shipped after launch

Best when people will use it regularly, on the move.

Web appsSoftware in the browser.

Dashboards, tools and platforms your team or your customers log into. No install, no app store, no waiting on review to ship a fix.

  • Works on any device with a browser
  • Logins, roles and permissions
  • Ships the moment it is ready
  • Easiest to grow over time

Best when it is a tool, not something to carry.

BothAn app with a back office behind it.

The common shape in practice: customers get the app, you get the dashboard that runs it. Built together, so they actually agree with each other.

  • Customer app and staff dashboard
  • One source of truth for your data
  • Reporting built in, not bolted on
  • Scoped in stages so the first part works early

Best when the app is how customers reach a service you run.

The questions that decide whether an app is worth building.

What people ask about apps.

Do I need an app, or just a better website?

Often just a better website, and we will say so. An app earns its place when it needs notifications, offline use, the camera, or a spot on someone’s home screen they tap regularly. If it is mostly information and a contact form, a fast mobile site does the job for a fraction of the cost and is far easier to find.

How much does an app cost?

More than a website and less than people fear, but it depends entirely on scope, which is why nobody serious quotes it off a rate card. Tell us what it needs to do and you get a real number back, usually scoped in stages so the first useful version is in your hands sooner.

Do you build for both iPhone and Android?

Yes, usually from one codebase so you are not paying twice or waiting twice for every change. If your audience is overwhelmingly on one platform we will say so and start there.

Who owns the app and the code?

You do. It is your product, your accounts and your code. We can keep building and maintaining it, which is what most clients want, but it is not a hostage.

Can you take over an app someone else built?

Usually. We will read the code first and give you an honest assessment: whether it is worth continuing, or whether you are better off rebuilding. Sometimes the answer is uncomfortable, and you should hear it before spending more.
